With fig season coming to an end I wanted to bake something using them. Figs are so delicious and beautiful~ I don’t know if I enjoy baking because I get to eat the food or because I get to take photos of it. Maybe both. I also love making collages like these and playing around with text and fonts. Here’s the recipe I used. I substituted sugar with coconut sugar and it tasted fine. I also didn’t use jam to cut down on sugar… so it’s just figs. The pie crust was really good though and you can pretty much fill it with any fruit!!
A few minutes walk away from Gasworks Parks in Fremont you’ll find this beautifully decorated restaurant, The Whale Wins. The staff’s excellent service and quality of food is also part of the memorable experience. I actually came across this place by chance as I was around the area to go visit Gasworks Parks. I instantly fell in love with the decor and decided to dine here with friends. They also have happy hour, which is called Whale Call, so do check those hours!
I found this bright orange coffee van right by Wat Si Koet Temple in Chiang Mai’s Old City. It was totally unexpected but turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I love how the owner converted this van into a coffee shop. The owner casual sits in the van and creates all the drinks from where he’s seated. He was super friendly and locals love coming to this place to casually hang out.
